I’ll be selling Zombie Ranch comics, Bits of Nothing, and artwork. I’ll also have some paper wallets available with my artwork on them. I created a couple for me and I’ve fallen inlove with how thin and durable they seem to be.

The paper wallets will be $2 each. I’ll have more of Rosa (image shown on right) and maybe some zombie themed ones.

Now to add to that, I’ve added listening to nerdy podcasts like:

And now I can add a new one – The Brian Howard Podcast. They don’t focus on nerd topics like the others do, Brian and his co-host Cowen are hilarious to listen to. I have a habit of listening to people talk and a lot of times they’ll say something that creates a drawing challenge. Like my friend who said “I’ll punch the fish in the face!” at a party I was at and caused me to draw “Punch the Fish in the Face” for my Bits of Nothing artist journal comic.

On one of the Brian Howard Podcasts, Brian and Cowen talk about what Brian’s super hero persona would be. They came up with The Neutralizer with some small details on the costume. Well ofcourse, I had to draw it.

Once again, I’ll repeat…I am a giant nerd.

This will be my first panel and I am very nervous. I’m one of those artists that is not use to public speaking, though happily I won’t be alone. Even though the image I sketched for this blog is how I feel I will be, I know that I’ll be alright. I’ve taught a class on how to do similar things, though that’s a room filled with maybe 20 people…it’s a little different if there’s more than 50.
So forgive me if I am a little goofy up at the microphone, it’s how I am when I’m nervous.

Long Beach Comic Con is a really nice convention. It really reminds me of San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) years ago before Hollywood realized that nerds are a great market to advertise to. Don’t get me wrong, I love San Diego Comic Con because it’s all out nerd weekend (aka Nerdi Gra as I call it). But Long Beach Comic Con is smaller, in a nice area, and they have some pretty big names attending that you’ll be able to actually get something signed by them. At SDCC, you see a big name artist and you’ll probably have to be put on a sign up list or take a ticket and hope you win the raffle. When I am at Long Beach Comic Con, I see artists like Amanda Conner with a line of maybe 2 or 3 people. Or as my shocked friend said about the lines last year “I can actually see Jim Lee when I’m in the back of the line!”.

Though I don’t mind it when it’s a personal project because it’s something that I want to do and don’t have to listen to someone say “I don’t like that…could you add more pictures of my cat!”. With this I have full control. Though today I hit a snag and have been working on it for hours and pretty much feel like banging my head on the keyboard. So my brain needs a little break, and video games is usually that break.

Normally I would play World of Warcraft – like the quick illustration says. But today I think I’ll try some more of the Ever Quest II Extended Beta. Don’t worry, I haven’t betrayed WoW for EQ2.

One of my passions are MMORPGs and I like to demo them when a new one comes out. I like to see what they do differently or the same as other MMORPGs. It’s also just fun to play MMORPGs.
I would love to be an Illustrator or Concept artist for an MMORPG one day, even if it’s just for a single project. I’m the type of person that loves to try out new experiences and challenges. One of the big reasons why I did an internship for Nickelodeon, I wanted to experience what it was like to work for a company like them as a Digital Illustrator. I’ll be looking for work very soon, and I plan on handing out resumes to these types of companies. I expect a lot of rejections, but it’s worth the try and you never know.

So this is the reason for the lack of artwork being drawn on my website and on my deviantART page. Though I’m still trying to force myself to draw, even though it’s not as much as I would like. My current project is to design a little creature that is a “Lab Reject”. So far I have 3 sketches and I think I’m really wanting those I’m drawing for to pick between the three or tell me what they are more thinking of so that I know a direction to go rather than “Lab Reject” cartoon creature.

San Diego Comic Con is over, now it’s time to prepare for Dragon Con! Slowly I’m adding more Conventions to my list. Dragon Con was always one that I always heard good reviews about and a place that I was always told would be a good place for me to go (with my love of fantasy art).

Sadly I won’t be able to go to Dragon Con because I don’t have the funding to fly to Georgia, but my artwork will be mailed to them and will be displayed in their Art Show.

One day I hope to be able to go, but for now it’s a huge step for me to just have my artwork there.
